Ingredients per serving
- 0.6 oz Water
- 0.3 oz Onions
- 0.2 cup lentils
- 0.2 tsp ras el hanout
- 0.15 oz rice
- 0.15 tsp Kosher Salt
- 0.05 oz Olive Oil
Method
1. In a large pot over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the sliced onions until they are golden brown and caramelized (about 20-30 minutes).
2. While the onions are cooking, rinse the lentils and rice separately under cold water to remove any debris.
3. In a separate large pot, combine the rinsed lentils and 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for about 25 minutes or until the lentils are tender but not mushy.
4. Add the rice to the pot with the lentils along with an additional 2 cups of water. Stir well and bring back to a boil.
5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked through and all the liquid has been absorbed.
6. Stir in the caramelized onions, ras el hanout, and salt. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
7. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
8. Fluff with a fork before serving.
