Ingredients per serving

  • 4.0 oz flour
  • 0.8 tbsp Canola Oil
  • 0.25 oz Water
  • 0.1 tsp Kosher Salt

Method

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Mix well. 2. Gradually add water to the flour mixture while stirring until a dough forms. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. 3. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions and shape each portion into a small ball. 4. Roll out each ball of dough into a thin, flat sheet (about 1/8 inch thick). 5. Brush both sides of each rolled-out dough with oil. 6. Stack the oiled sheets on top of each other in a pot or Dutch oven. Cover and let rest at room temperature for 2 hours to allow the dough to relax. 7. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). 8. Place the pot or Dutch oven with the stacked dough into the preheated oven and bake overnight, about 8-10 hours, until the jachnun is golden brown and crispy. 9. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm. 10. For best results, serve with a side of skhug (Yemenite hot sauce) or honey.
