Ingredients per serving
- 0.4 oz Peeled Garlic
- 0.3 lb potato
- 0.2 oz Onions
- 0.15 cup cheddar cheese
- 0.1 lb phyllo dough
- 0.1 tsp Kosher Salt
- 0.05 oz butter
- 0.05 oz Black Pepper
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2. Boil the potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and mash with a potato masher or fork.
3. In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the onions and garlic in 1/4 cup of melted butter until translucent, about 5 minutes.
4. Mix the mashed potatoes, grated cheddar cheese, sautéed onions, and garlic together. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
5. Lay out the phyllo dough on a clean surface. Brush each sheet lightly with melted butter.
6. Cut the phyllo sheets into triangles. Place a spoonful of the potato-cheese mixture at the wide end of each triangle, then fold into a triangular shape by folding the corners over and continuing to roll until sealed.
7. Place the bourekas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the remaining melted butter.
8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
