Ingredients per serving
- 0.8 oz Feta cheese
- 0.3 oz Olive Oil
- 0.2 oz spinach
- 0.2 oz Peeled Garlic
- 0.1 lb phyllo dough
- 0.1 oz Onions
- 0.1 tsp Kosher Salt
- 0.1 each egg
- 0.05 tbsp pepper
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
3. Add chopped spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
4. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled spinach mixture with crumbled feta cheese. Mix well.
5. Lay out phyllo dough sheets on a clean surface. Keep the remaining sheets covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying.
6. Cut each sheet of phyllo dough into 4 equal triangles. Place about 1 tablespoon of the spinach-feta mixture at the wide end of each triangle.
7. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then continue folding in a triangular pattern until you reach the tip of the triangle. Brush the edges with beaten egg to seal.
8. Place the bourekas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the remaining beaten egg.
9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
10. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
